Ghosts, goblins, and zombies – oh my! Halloween is just days away. I don't know about you, but I am excited for this judgment-free day when everyone can can dress as wild, scary, or sexy as they want!
Another perk of this fun holiday? Going trick-or-treating or attending parties to eat delicious candy and snacks! But instead of binge-eating those bite-sized Halloween snacks, browse through the pile of goodies for hair color inspiration. Not sure where to start? Here are 3 Halloween candy inspired hair colors to get you started.
More than 20 million pounds of candy corn are sold each year. Personally, I’m not a candy corn person (give me the chocolate!). But I love the hair color trend that candy corn inspires. Want to take a guess? I’ll give you a hint. A candy corn is comprised of three colors: a white tip, an orange center, and a yellow end. Have you figured out the hair color inspiration yet? You guessed it- ombre!
Celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Biel, and Khloe Kardashian nail this hair color techqniue. The ombre hair color approach uses darker, more natural hues at the roots of your hair then embraces gradually-dyed lighter hair color toward the end of your hair. Basically, it looks like you are letting your hair color “grow out.”
Remember that getting highlights and using lighter colors can be hard on your hair.
Taste the rainbow- or put the rainbow in your hair! When it comes to using “nontraditional” color to your hair, try one of these three ideas:
1) Use a single, bold color such as Katy Perry’s famous blue hair or Pink’s hair. Be sure to consider your profession and upcoming occasions before making such a dramatic change! Check out these celebrities who rock fun-colored curls.
2) Add colorful highlights to your hair using hair chalk. You’ll find hair chalking is an easy way to brighten up your hair without making a major commitment. Be careful though- hair chalk can be messy and get on your clothing.
3) Use hair clip-ins to create a colorful look that is easy change based on your mood or occasion. Nicki Minaj and Rhianna are popular for having bright highlights and peak-a-boo hair colors. You can purchase pre-colored clips or ask your hair stylist about coloring your clip-ins.
Dove’s Dark Chocolate
If you want a savory and smooth hair color, steal inspiration from Dove’s dark chocolate. Even though Kim Kardashian currently has blonde hair, I love when Kim’s hair is jet black. But not many people can rock that bold, rich color so ask your stylist what he or she thinks before you make a jump to hair color that is dramatically darker than normal. For a darker brown color, steal Zooey Deschanel’s hair color (and bangs too)!
Don’t forget that color-treated hair needs specific products to extend the life your hair color and keep your hair from looking frazzled and unhealthy. For a double win, use a finishing shine spray for an all-day hold and beautiful shine. Best of all? This finishing spray naturally locks in style and provides humidity resistance, and UV protection!
