4 New Ways to Do 'Something Blue'

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something...boring. Try these ideas on for size to liven up your special day's 'something blue.'

1. Your hair.

Let me be clear: I'm not suggesting you streak your strands (you know, unless you can pull that off. I can't.). But I do love a good bridal hair accessory - and what better place to incorporate a pretty azure tone?

Try a periwinkle flower crown, blue-toned headband or even a peacock feather clip-in (and keep your style in place with some Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine Super Spray!).

2. Your nails.

That bridal French manicure trend is so overdone. On your big day, trade the pink and white for clean nails in a soft powder-y blue. My faves are Essie's Borrowed and Blue and Julep's Julianne.

3. Your feet.

Toss those kitten heeled, cream-colored, satin peep toes and try a new trend on for size: blue wedding shoes. A bold t-strap, round-toe pumps or even blue booties add a bit of flair to your big day - and you can show them off on the dance floor at your reception after you bustle up that gorgeous train.

4. Your dress.

Colored wedding gowns may be the trend you're most interested in, but I'm thinking a little less avant garde: blue-hued dress accents. Try light blue buttons, a belt or ribbon - or, my personal fave, stitch your wedding date on the inside of a hem in blue thread.
