For those of you who have had to sit under the dryer for a roller set, deep conditioner or straightening, you know that your time in that seat can be anywhere from 45-minutes to an hour, and sometimes even longer, depending on your hair type and the style you are trying to achieve.Sitting for that long is no easy task, so here are some things you can do to pass the time--just in case you are the type of person who likes to multi-task.
Catch up on Current Events - Whip out your smart phone or tablet and catch up on current events. This is also a good time to write emails, schedule appointments or listen to the news. Catching up on social media counts, too— it’s called a “newsfeed” for a reason!
Request Another Service - Ask if you can get a pedicure, wax, massage or facial treatment while you are sitting under the dryer. You'll be saving an extra trip to the salon, and maybe even some money if extra services come as a packaged deal. Before you begin your hair service, you can ask your stylist for a deep conditioner so your hair will be nice and recovered before you style it. A great deep conditioner to ask for is the Aquage Healing Conditioner.
Tone Your Lower Body - There are plenty of exercises you can do while sitting in a chair. Granted, you will be limited as you'll have to keep your head stationary while your head is drying, but assuming your legs are free, you can do some straight leg circles (put your leg straight out and make a circle with your foot, keeping your leg straight) or even some butt squeezes (hold your buttocks for 20 seconds at a time and release). There's nothing wrong with getting your work out in!
Network - 'Network' is just a fancy word for making friends. Strike up a conversation with the person sitting next to you. Talking to your neighbor will relieve stress and make your time go by much quicker. You never know, you might meet a new friend or business partner.
Hopefully, these suggestions make your time under the dryer more productive. But, if you just feel like kicking up your feet and taking some "me" time, that's fine, too. The most important thing is that you relax and picture how fabulous you'll look when you're done.
