You wake up after your alarm has gone off. You don’t have time to do a complete style on your hair. You rush out the door with barely a brush run through your unruly mane. What do you do now? You don’t want to go to work with bedhead but you don’t have time to style it, right? Wrong! Here are five quick and easy styles that you can do in your car with a few basic accessories.
1. The Criss-Cross Low Bun Style
a. First you are going to part your hair into three sections. You will want the two side sections to be equal and the middle section at the back of your head to have a little more than the sides. Take the middle section and make a ponytail out of it.
b. Now make the ponytail into a bun. Use bobby pins to secure the bun.
c. Take the left section of your loose hair and wrap it around the bun as many times as you can and secure with bobby pins.
d. Take the right side of the loose hair and do the same. Use a hairspray that will give you a light, workable hold for a style that stays put.
2. The French Braid Side Bun
a. Make a French braid on the side of your head. If you don’t know how, check out our Zig Zag Braid Tutorial.
b. Once the braid is at your ear, continue braiding as a normal braid. Tie it off with an elastic once you can’t braid anymore.
c. Now take the other side of your hair that is not part of the French braid and make a regular braid out of it. Make sure to keep it loose off of your scalp to make sure that you can make a bun with it.
d. Wrap both of the ends of the braids together to form a bun. Secure with bobby pins and spray with a hairspray.
3. The Knotted Half-Up
Volume is going to be key with this look. Before getting started, wash and condition with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner.
a. Take the top half layer of your hair and pull it into a ponytail. Make sure that it is even and there are no lumps.
b. Split the ponytail into two sections and then tie them into a knot. This may take some practice but is really easy to do once you have figured it out.
c. Once you have a knot take the top section and pull it down over the knot. Clip it into place with a decorative barrette.
4. The Twisted Trio
For a soft hold, apply a mousse before blow drying.
a. Part your hair into three even sections.
b. Take the middle section and twist it into a bun. Make sure that it is right in the center of your head and down low. Secure with bobby pins.
c. Do the same for the right side and the left side. Nest the two side buns right next to the center one.
5. The Double-Wrap Head Scarf
a. Take your favorite headscarf and tie it around your head once. Make sure that one end of the scarf is longer than the other.
b. Twist the long end of the scarf until it is in a tight coil.
c. Finally, wrap the coil over the headscarf and pin in place by your ear with a bunch of bobby pins.
d. Finish the look with a textured powder product to give your hair for some extra volume and create a more vintage style.
