Homecoming Hairstyles for 2012

With school starting up in the next few weeks, teens are raving about schedule pick-up, first day outfits, football games and, most importantly, homecoming. Aside from prom, the homecoming dance is one of the most talked about and fabulous school functions there is! No matter which dress and jewelry you will be rocking, we are here to help you find your perfect style for the big dance!

The Easy Pinups

Have a dress that already has a lot going on? The easiest thing is to pull your hair up and away from your face. This hairstyle has a little secret: it wasn’t done at a salon! It’s actually a clean and simple look that throws some class into your dress no matter the length. Want to get this simple style? Start off by curling your hair. (Get ready for a workout because the next step is a big one!) Pin curls up section by section. Whoa! Take a break, because we know that was killer. Add some jazz by pinning a flower or sparkly barrette.

Want a fun and flirty look like Hayden Panettiere? Start by making small tight curls throughout your hair. Twisting backward from your hairline, pin it into a bun. Finish with a light hold hairspray like Sebastian Shaper Zero Gravity. Too much hairspray will leave you with a do' that feels more like a hay pile. Soft and smooth is key - even with updos!

Sleek and Chic

The long, sleek pony is hitting the trend charts hard this year. This look is ideal if your dress has a detailed neckline or you are going with a bold earring. This is an easy style to DIY at home. Prep your hair for a sleek ponytail by using a smoothing creme such as Joico Silk Result Straight Smoother. Nothing is chic about a stretchy ponytail holder! Cover it by wrapping a small section of hair around the elastic.

Keep It Long & Flowing

We absolutely love this simple medium curl worn by Kate Hudson. Curly hair is always popular for the high school dances, but with the right volume and size curling rod, you can turn this old favorite into a unique style. Try the new bubble wand curling iron to help achieve the perfect curl.

If you love the curly style but want to kick it up a notch, add a braid around your hairline. Incorporate two French braids on both sides of your head and pin them together in the back.

Don't Be Afraid to Braid

Yes, the braid is a great option to spice up everyday styles, but you can easily fanci-fy it up!  These three braided styles look formal, but also show that you're ready to have fun and boogie with your girls! Keep your braids in place by using mousse. We love Kenra Volume Mousse for hold and manageability.

Fancy Styles for Short to Medium Hair

Girls of the short unite!  It can feel tough to fancy up our chic (admittedly every-day-easy) short to medium hair.  Why not rock the teased curl? Or add a headband for flair!

Or do both!

The Salon Effect

Heading to the salon for your homecoming 'do? Here are some beautiful styles that are impossible to get on your own. And don't forget to search for your perfect stylist to do you hair!

And remember, be safe, have fun, and make Homecoming is a night to remember!
