When it comes to my hair, I'm always thinking one thing : The bigger the better! And why not, right? Big hair is so much fun. If you're like me and you're looking to transform that boring second day hair into a masterpiece, you are going to love this tutorial! Time to trade in your limp, lifeless curls for a wild and untamed afro.
First things first: I suggest starting this style two or three days after you initially wash your hair. That's the perfect time to get the best 'fro since your curl pattern still has great definition and low frizz. Before I start, I like to add a little shine and moisture to my curls, like massaging a few pumps of AG Hair The Oil all over my strands.
You can see my curl pattern is still in tact, but the volume is not quite where I want it to be. To amp up your 'fro, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Lift your roots
To get tons of volume, you want to take a hair pick or wide-toothed comb and begin lifting your roots. As I lift each section with a comb, I'm going to set it with a little texture spray. The spray I'm using is AG Hair Texture Spray.
Step 2: Pin for more volume
Now that your roots are lifted, you want add volume to other parts of your hair. Use 5-10 (or possibly more) hair pins to lift areas in the front and back of your head.
Step 3: Whip & shake your hair
Okay, so here's the fun part! After you're done pinning, you want to give your hair a really good shaking. This will lift up any stubborn strands. Play around with your hair, shake and add more hair pins until you achieve the look you want.
Seems easy, right? It really is!
